**Hyderabad, March 20, 2025** – Rachakonda Police in Hyderabad have successfully rescued 10 infants and arrested 27 individuals in a major crackdown on an inter-state child trafficking racket. The operation, a follow-up to February arrests, involved the Special Operations Team of Malkajgiri and Chaitanyapuri Police.
Police Commissioner G. Sudheer Babu announced that the investigation revealed a network responsible for illegally procuring and selling at least 25 infants across multiple states, including Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Telangana. Eleven infants remain missing, and special teams are actively searching for them.
Among those arrested are key figures in the operation, including Somu Amulya, a 29-year-old Asha worker who acted as a central figure in the trafficking ring. Amulya, along with collaborators Kola Krishnaveni and Deepthi, targeted childless couples. The network utilized social media to expand its reach and connect with traffickers across state lines. Other arrests include mediators, lab technicians, and adoptive parents.
The infants were illegally obtained and sold at varying prices based on gender, with female infants fetching ₹2-3 lakh and male infants ₹4-5 lakh. The resale prices were significantly higher.
The investigation highlights the sophistication of the operation, involving multiple states and a complex network of individuals. Police are continuing their efforts to locate the remaining missing children and bring all those involved to justice.
