**Hyderabad, March 20, 2025** – Telangana is set to host the 72nd Miss World pageant from May 7th to 31st, transforming the state into a global stage for beauty and culture. The month-long event will feature contestants from 140 countries vying for the prestigious title.
The pageant, costing an estimated ₹54 crore (approximately $6.5 million USD), will be jointly funded by the Telangana Tourism Department and Miss World Limited, with each contributing ₹27 crore. Funding for the state’s share will primarily come from sponsorships, according to Tourism Minister Jupally Krishna Rao.
At a press conference, Minister Rao described the event as a milestone for Telangana, highlighting the state’s blend of tradition and modernity. He emphasized the pageant’s focus not just on external beauty, but also on inner strength, intelligence, and kindness.
Tourism Secretary Smita Sabharwal showcased Telangana’s rich history, vibrant culture, and robust infrastructure. The pageant will highlight the state’s architectural marvels, including the Ramappa Temple, Charminar, and Golconda Fort, as well as its handloom traditions and natural beauty.
Miss World 2024, Krystyna Pyszková, expressed her excitement, emphasizing the pageant’s mission of empowering women and promoting humanitarian causes. She lauded India’s “unity in diversity,” reflecting the pageant’s global message. The event promises to be a celebration of purpose-driven beauty, showcasing Telangana to the world.
