**Bengaluru, March 20, 2025** – The Karnataka government plans to rebuild the state’s Bhavan in Varanasi at a cost of ₹36 crore, Muzrai Minister Ramalinga Reddy announced on Wednesday. The century-old building, originally constructed in 1928, has fallen into disrepair, along with a nearly four-decade-old adjacent structure. Recent damage during renovations at Harishchandra Ghat highlighted the urgent need for reconstruction. The Minister stated that all existing structures will be demolished to make way for a new building designed to accommodate pilgrims.
Meanwhile, upgrades to the Karnataka Bhavan in Tirumala are nearing completion. The project includes 36 VIP rooms, a 500-person capacity choultry, and two additional blocks, with one already open to pilgrims. Council member T.A. Sharavana urged the government to reinstate the Anna Dasoha (free food program) at Tirumala for Karnataka pilgrims and expressed concerns about the lack of maintenance at the newly constructed building there.
