Wed Mar 19 20:10:00 UTC 2025: ## NITI Aayog Suggests Integrating Climate Risks into US-India Tech Framework

**New Delhi, March 20, 2025** – NITI Aayog Vice Chairman Suman Bery has urged India and the United States to incorporate climate risks and related technologies into the newly formed TRUST framework. Speaking at the “India 2047: Building a Climate-Resilient Future” summit, co-organized by the Union Environment Ministry and Harvard University, Bery highlighted the need for collaboration on climate change as a form of non-traditional security.

TRUST, the renamed Initiative on Critical and Emerging Technologies (iCET), focuses on collaborations in areas like defense, AI, and semiconductors. Bery suggested expanding this to include climate adaptation technologies, emphasizing the unpredictable nature of climate change impacts and the need for flexible responses within India’s bureaucratic structure. He advocated for greater empowerment of local officials to address these challenges effectively.

India is preparing its first National Adaptation Plan (NAP) ahead of the COP30 climate summit in Brazil this November. The summit’s discussions are expected to contribute to the NAP’s development. Minister of State for Environment, Kirti Vardhan Singh, stressed the crucial role of climate finance in supporting adaptation initiatives and called for increased funding through innovative mechanisms such as blended finance and greater private sector involvement. He highlighted the need for significantly scaled-up financial resources to meet the needs of vulnerable communities.
