**Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, India** – A shocking murder case has unfolded in Meerut, where a Merchant Navy officer, Saurabh Rajput, was brutally killed by his wife, Muskaan Rastogi, and her lover, Sahil Shukla. Police announced the arrests on Wednesday, revealing a meticulously planned crime that spanned months.
Rajput’s body was found dismembered into 15 pieces and sealed in a drum filled with cement. Investigations revealed that Rastogi, who had been planning the murder since November, purchased knives under the guise of needing them for chicken, and obtained prescription sleeping pills by feigning anxiety. She then drugged her husband before he was stabbed to death on March 4th.
A key element in the plot involved Rastogi manipulating Shukla through a fake Snapchat account. She convinced him that messages from the account were communications from his deceased mother, using this deception to control him and ultimately enlist his help in the murder. Both Rastogi and Shukla are known to have been regular drug users, a factor police believe may have motivated the crime, as Rajput allegedly disapproved of their drug use.
After the murder, Rastogi attempted to cover her tracks by telling family Rajput had gone to a hill station, even posting photos from his phone to support her alibi. The deception began to unravel when family members grew suspicious of his absence and reported him missing. Upon their return from Manali, Rastogi confessed to her parents, leading to the arrests of both her and Shukla.
Police investigations into Shukla’s residence revealed several drawings suggestive of drug use, further corroborating the drug-related motive.
The case has sent shockwaves through the community, highlighting the brutality of the crime and the lengths the perpetrators went to conceal their actions. The investigation is ongoing.
