CHENNAI: A 40-year-old French woman was allegedly raped by her guide while meditating on a hill near Tiruvannamalai, police said on Wednesday. The woman, who had been visiting the town since January, was staying at a private ashram along the Girivalam path. She regularly visited a hill behind the temple for meditation with the assistance of her guide. The alleged assault occurred three days ago during one of these meditation sessions.
The victim filed a complaint with the Tiruvannamalai town police on Tuesday, leading to the registration of a case. She has been taken to a local government hospital for treatment. Police arrested the accused guide on Tuesday night and are currently investigating the incident.
