Thu Mar 20 10:08:54 UTC 2025: ## Andhra Pradesh Revives 74 Centrally Sponsored Schemes After Penalty Dispute
**Vijayawada, March 20, 2025** – The Andhra Pradesh government has revived 74 out of 94 Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS) following the NDA coalition’s ascent to power in June 2024, Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav announced in the Legislative Assembly on Thursday.
The state had previously utilized only 94 of the 194 CSS operating nationwide. Large-scale fund diversion between 2019 and 2024 under the previous YSR Congress Party government resulted in approximately ₹350 crore in penalties for non-payment of the state’s share. The current government is negotiating a waiver of these penalties.
To date, the state has released ₹12,337 crore towards its share of the revived schemes. Minister Keshav attributed significant economic losses to the previous administration’s negligence in utilizing the CSS, citing a loss of tax devolution and other detrimental impacts, further exacerbated by the state’s post-bifurcation challenges. The current government is seeking central support to address the resulting crisis.
