VISAKHAPATNAM, INDIA – A controversy surrounding land allocated for the Ramanaidu Studios in Visakhapatnam has resurfaced. MLA Velagapudi Ramakrishna Babu has demanded the government reclaim 15.17 acres of the 35 acres originally allotted for the studio. He alleges that the studio’s owners attempted to create and sell plots on this land instead of using it for its intended purpose.
Babu stated that he had to go to the Supreme Court to prevent the sale of the land. He criticized the government for allowing this deviation from the original purpose of the land allocation, questioning the lack of studio development despite the years that have passed. He asserts that government-allocated land should be used only for its designated purpose and that the Ramanaidu Studio land should be reclaimed due to this misuse.
The MLA also highlighted the significant increase in the land’s value, from ₹1.81 crore to an estimated ₹500 crore, raising suspicions of undue influence in the approval process for developing plots on the allocated land. The incident has sparked accusations of government complicity and raised concerns about transparency in land dealings.
