Tue Mar 18 15:37:40 UTC 2025: ## BJP MLA Accuses IT Firms of Illegally Collecting CSR Contributions from Employees

**Bengaluru, March 18, 2025** – Deputy Leader of the Opposition, Arvind Bellad, has accused several IT firms in Karnataka of illegally deducting Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) contributions from their employees’ salaries. Speaking in the state Legislative Assembly on Tuesday, Mr. Bellad presented evidence from an apprentice’s payslip showing a ₹260 CSR deduction from a ₹16,000 monthly salary. He criticized the practice, arguing that companies shouldn’t receive CSR credit for funds collected from employees rather than profits.

Mr. Bellad further alleged that many IT companies are employing apprentices for significantly lower pay to perform full-time work, circumventing labor regulations and potentially exploiting young professionals. He urged the Labour Department to investigate these practices and protect the interests of these workers.

Beyond the IT sector, Mr. Bellad also criticized a clause in the Right to Education Act introduced by the previous Congress government. This clause restricts admission under the Act to private schools only if no government school exists in the area. He called for the removal of this clause. He also suggested including parents in the electoral college for Legislative Council Teacher’s constituencies to better represent student perspectives. Finally, he advocated for the implementation of a face recognition attendance system for teachers, mirroring a planned system for students.
