Tue Mar 18 19:13:41 UTC 2025: **Chennai Residents Complain of Poor E-Seva Centre Services**
CHENNAI, March 19, 2025 – Residents of Chennai have voiced widespread complaints regarding the inadequate services provided by e-seva centers across the city. The issue is particularly acute as the summer season approaches, with many parents needing certificates for their children’s higher education applications.
According to K. Ganesan of the Thirumoolar Colony Welfare Association, numerous government office e-seva centers are non-functional, citing server problems. Private centers, meanwhile, are charging exorbitant fees. Many residents report that the app used to locate e-seva centers often lists non-operational locations due to staffing and technical issues. A lack of trained personnel and inadequate manpower are cited as major contributing factors.
Ward 104 councillor T.V. Shemmozhi confirmed the closure of the Anna Nagar e-seva center due to a lack of technical staff. S. Sowmya, a licensed private e-seva center operator, added that the lack of technically qualified workers leads to frequent application rejections.
Velachery resident S. Kumararaja expressed the desire for a consolidated center offering all government services. City officials stated they are currently exploring the integration of services to improve efficiency at both e-seva and common service centers. The situation highlights a significant access problem for citizens seeking essential government services.
