Tue Mar 18 15:34:45 UTC 2025: ## Angamaly-Kundannoor Bypass Project Progressing, Says Minister

**Kochi, March 18, 2025** – Kerala Public Works Minister P.A. Mohamed Riyas announced today that the land acquisition for the Angamaly-Kundannoor bypass is underway. The project, a joint venture between the Union and State governments, aims to alleviate traffic congestion on the NH-544 corridor.

The Minister stated that the notification under the National Highways Act was issued on August 29, 2024, and the 3D notification will follow the completion of surveys. Compensation distribution to landowners will then commence. The state government has committed ₹5,580 crore for land acquisition and an additional ₹2,370.59 crore for this bypass, along with other road projects including the Thiruvananthapuram outer ring road and the Kollam-Sengottai greenfield highway. The state will also bear an additional ₹424 crore in liability after exemptions. The Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board has allocated ₹275.5 crore specifically for the Angamaly bypass. The Roads and Bridges Development Corporation of Kerala is overseeing the implementation.

Minister Riyas assured that officials have been instructed to expedite the project and suggested a meeting with MLAs from other Ernakulam constituencies to further facilitate progress. The land valuation reassessment will trigger further actions.
