**New Delhi, March 18, 2025** – Samajwadi Party Rajya Sabha MP Ramji Lal Suman has demanded an explanation from Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding U.S. President Donald Trump’s repeated claims of millions of dollars in U.S. aid being sent to India to boost voter turnout.

Suman questioned the government’s silence and the intelligence agencies’ inaction in the face of alleged foreign interference in India’s electoral process. Trump has repeatedly asserted, since February 16th, that the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) under the Biden administration allocated $21 million (approximately ₹2.1 crore) for this purpose. However, these claims remain unsubstantiated.

The Finance Ministry denies receiving these funds, and while the External Affairs Minister stated the matter is under investigation, Suman criticized the Prime Minister’s lack of response. He raised concerns about the alleged lack of vigilance from Indian intelligence agencies and implied a connection between the alleged funding and the close relationship between Modi and Trump. Suman’s statement was made during the Zero Hour in the Rajya Sabha. He called for the Prime Minister to address Parliament on this issue.
