**Puducherry, India –** The Puducherry government will mandate that all shops and establishments display their names in Tamil, Chief Minister N Rangasamy announced Tuesday. This follows a plea from Independent member G Nehru, who stressed the importance of upholding the Tamil language. The government will issue circulars with strict instructions to ensure compliance. Furthermore, all government function invitations will now include a Tamil version, a move described by the Chief Minister as a demonstration of “love and respect” for the language.

Separately, the government also revealed plans to combat coastal erosion with a significant project. PWD and Fisheries Minister K Lakshminarayanan announced that approximately ₹1,000 crore will be allocated to place boulders along the entire 24-kilometer Puducherry coastline.
