**Thrissur, March 18, 2025** – The family of Ebel Tharayil, an Indian student found dead on rail tracks in Scotland, is demanding a thorough investigation into his death. Tharayil, a Masters student in Sports Management at Stirling University and an athletic coach, was found deceased on March 12th. His family, who live in Poothole, received notification from the Indian Consulate in Scotland on March 13th.

While Scottish police have preliminarily reported the death as a suicide, Tharayil’s mother, M.S. Padmini, vehemently disputes this, citing her son’s promising future and passion for sports. She has written to Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Union Minister of State for Petroleum Suresh Gopi, urging them to intervene and ensure a comprehensive investigation is conducted. She also seeks assistance in repatriating her son’s body, which remains in a Scottish hospital pending further examination.
