**Hyderabad, March 18, 2025** – Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy lauded Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for his role in the passage of a landmark bill guaranteeing 42% reservation for Backward Classes (BCs) in local body elections, education, and employment. Reddy stated that the bill, passed by the Congress-led state government, fulfilled a promise made by Gandhi during the Bharat Jodo Yatra.
The Chief Minister emphasized the transparency of the caste survey conducted to facilitate the reservation policy. He warned BC leaders against opposition attempts to undermine the survey’s credibility and urged them to actively support the implementation of the new law. Reddy also announced that local body elections have been postponed to ensure fair representation for BCs.
He called upon BC associations to organize a large public meeting to thank Gandhi for his commitment to the BC community and to advocate for similar caste-based surveys nationwide. Reddy attributed the success of the bill to the Congress party’s commitment and urged the BC community to avoid falling prey to divisive political tactics.
