**Madurai, March 18, 2025** – Police in Madurai are investigating the discovery of a partially-burnt body found near an irrigation tank along the Madurai-Thoothukudi Inner Ring Road on Tuesday. The unidentified male victim, estimated to be around 35 years old, is believed to have been burned elsewhere before his body was dumped at the location. The body was discovered in the afternoon and transported to Government Rajaji Hospital for further examination.
Perungudi police have registered a case of suspicious death and launched an investigation. This incident follows the recent discovery of a highly-decomposed body of a 70-year-old woman, Indrani, just days prior, also found dumped near the Inner Ring Road within the same police jurisdiction. Police have already made arrests in that case.
