Mon Mar 17 17:51:31 UTC 2025: ## Pondicherry University Staff Association Demands Seizure of Former VC’s Bungalow
**Puducherry, March 17, 2025** – The Pondicherry University Non-Teaching Staff Welfare Association has called for the immediate seizure of the Vice-Chancellor’s bungalow, expressing concerns that former Vice-Chancellor Prof. Gurmeet Singh may remove crucial official records before leaving the premises.
In a letter to the Registrar (in-charge), Rajneesh Bhutani, the Association’s president, K. Anbazhagan, stated that despite Prof. Singh’s tenure ending on November 22, 2023, he remained in the official residence until recently. The association fears that Prof. Singh, who is under CBI investigation for alleged financial misappropriations, intends to remove documents that could serve as evidence.
The bungalow reportedly contains files related to numerous financial decisions, recruitment processes, and other critical administrative matters. The Association urges the university administration to secure the premises and prevent the removal of any records without prior permission. They cite the ongoing CBI investigation as the primary reason for their concern, arguing that allowing access could lead to the destruction of vital evidence.
