**Virudhunagar, March 18, 2025** – The Communist Party of India (Marxist) has voiced concerns over a new bus route in Virudhunagar, claiming it causes significant hardship for school children. A petition submitted to Virudhunagar Collector V.P. Jeyaseelan highlights that the rerouting of Rajapalayam-Virudhunagar buses, which now terminates at the new bus stand, forces students from villages like Pavali, Sengundrapuram, Erichchanatham, and Azhagapuri to walk significantly further to school.
The party argues that the buses should be allowed to continue using the route through Aathupalam bus stop to reach the new bus stand, citing safety concerns as the Sivakasi Road-Madurai Road junction is an accident-prone area. This alternative route would also benefit residents traveling to Virudhunagar Government Medical College Hospital and the Virudhunagar Railway Station. The CPI(M) petition emphasizes the considerable extra distance students must now cover, impacting their daily commute.
