Mon Mar 17 17:39:41 UTC 2025: ## NIOT Transfers Marine Energy Technologies to Private Companies

**Visakhapatnam, March 18, 2025** – The National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT) made significant strides in marine renewable energy technology this week. At an international symposium held on Monday, NITI Aayog member Vijay Kumar Saraswat presented “Roshini” saline water lanterns to the Andaman & Nicobar and Lakshadweep administrations, and launched a wave-powered navigational buoy for Kamarajar Port.

The event also marked the transfer of Roshini technology to Yallas Pvt. Ltd. and the wave-powered buoy technology to Next Engineering Pvt. Ltd., both based in Visakhapatnam. These technologies were developed by NIOT under the Ministry of Earth Sciences and the Ministry of Science and Technology respectively. The transfer signifies a step towards commercialization of these innovations.

Adding to the positive news, students from Sri Prakash Vidya Niketan in Visakhapatnam won first and second prizes in a drawing competition themed “Marine Renewable Energy,” highlighting the growing interest in the field.
