**Vijayapura, Karnataka – March 18, 2025** – BJP Member of Parliament Ramesh Jigajinagi has leveled serious accusations against the Karnataka State government, alleging the release of significantly more water to Telangana than officially reported. Jigajinagi claims that 10 TMC (thousand million cubic feet) of water has been released from the Narayanpur dam on the Krishna river, contradicting the Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar’s statement of only 1.2 TMC being released.
The MP expressed strong criticism, stating that this action is unacceptable given the impending water scarcity in North Karnataka, particularly in districts like Vijayapura, which are facing a potential 75-day dry spell and already experiencing water rationing. He questioned the government’s rationale for releasing such a large quantity of water to a neighboring state while neglecting the needs of its own drought-prone regions. Jigajinagi warned that the state government will be held responsible for the consequences of this alleged mismanagement.
