Tue Mar 18 15:25:51 UTC 2025: ## Karnataka Farmers Launch New Political Front to Champion Farmers’ Rights

**Kalaburagi, Karnataka – March 18, 2025** – Frustrated with the perceived failures of existing political parties to address their concerns, Karnataka farmers have announced the formation of a new political front. The initiative, spearheaded by the Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha (KRRS) along with various farmer organizations and regional parties, aims to represent the interests of farmers and marginalized communities in the state.

KRRS State president Kodihalli Chandrasekhar announced the new front at a press conference on Tuesday, criticizing the Congress government for its alleged failure to protect farmers’ rights and improve their livelihoods. He specifically condemned the 2019 amendment to the Land Acquisition Act, accusing the then Congress-Janata Dal(S) coalition government of weakening crucial provisions related to consent and rehabilitation.

Chandrasekhar stated that all three major parties – Congress, BJP, and Janata Dal(S) – have consistently neglected farmers’ issues. The new front, a coalition under the KRRS umbrella, including parties like the Bahujan Samaj Party and Republican Party of India, released a manifesto in January but is yet to finalize its name. The front plans to challenge the ruling government on issues such as land acquisition and advocate for farmer-friendly policies.
