**Washington, D.C. – March 18, 2025** – The US Department of Justice announced the formation of a joint task force, JTF 10-7, to investigate Hamas’s October 7, 2023, attack on Israel. The task force will pursue charges against Hamas militants responsible for the attack, which killed approximately 1,200 Israelis and resulted in the taking of 251 hostages. The investigation will also probe potential civil rights violations and acts of antisemitism by individuals or groups supporting Hamas.
Attorney General Pam Bondi stated that Hamas would face consequences for its actions. The investigation follows the September 2024 unsealing of charges against Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar and other senior militants, although several are now deceased.
The task force’s creation coincides with President Donald Trump issuing an ultimatum to Hamas to release all remaining hostages.
