**Mumbai, March 17, 2025** – The Bombay High Court today rejected the pre-arrest bail plea of Satara district and sessions court judge Dhananjay Nikam, who stands accused of demanding a ₹5 lakh bribe. The Maharashtra Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) alleges that Mr. Nikam, through two intermediaries, solicited the bribe from a woman in exchange for a favorable bail order in a cheating case.

Justice N. R. Borkar, presiding over the single bench, dismissed Mr. Nikam’s application after considering arguments from both sides. While the ACB presented evidence supporting its claim of Mr. Nikam’s involvement, the judge vehemently denied the allegations, asserting his innocence and lack of evidence against him. Mr. Nikam’s defense included a claim of being on leave during the alleged bribe negotiations and a denial of any involvement in the discussions between the complainant and the intermediaries.
