Tue Mar 18 17:20:00 UTC 2025: **Seattle’s Capitol Hill Block Party Goes 21+, Shrinks to Two Days**

SEATTLE (July 12, 2024) — Seattle’s Capitol Hill Block Party (CHBP), returning after a successful 2023, is undergoing significant changes for its 2024 edition. The annual music and arts festival will now be a two-day event (July 19-20), exclusively for attendees aged 21 and older. This marks a departure from its previous three-day format, which included all-ages areas.

Evan Johnson, senior vice president at Daydream State, the festival’s organizer, explained the changes as an effort to “refine the format and offer a tighter, more dynamic experience.” He stated that the two-day structure will be evaluated after 2024 based on feedback and the evolving live music industry.

Ticket holders for the original three-day event (July 18-20) can claim a partial refund for the cancelled day by contacting See Tickets by Wednesday, July 17. Full refunds are only available to those under 21.

Johnson acknowledged potential disappointment among younger music fans, suggesting they attend all-ages shows at Capitol Hill venues. He also cited the small percentage of under-21 attendees in previous years as a factor in the decision. The change, he added, will allow for improved layout, streamlined operations, and better experiences for attendees and local businesses.

This year’s lineup boasts over 45 performances across seven stages, including headliners such as DJ Pee.Wee (Anderson .Paak), Thundercat, Porter Robinson, and 100 Gecs. Two-day general admission passes are $180, while VIP passes cost $250. Single-day tickets will also be available.

Addressing concerns about crowd safety raised after last year’s event, Johnson stated that organizers are working closely with Seattle Police and Fire Departments to enhance security and crowd management, including additional security based on anticipated attendance. Last year’s festival drew an average of 8,000 to 10,000 attendees daily. Tickets go on sale Friday, July 12, at 10 a.m. For more information, visit capitolhillblockparty.com.
