Bengaluru, March 17, 2025 – The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) launched a crackdown on illegal flex boards and banners in Bengaluru on Monday, following a directive from Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar. At least 12 FIRs were filed and ₹12 lakh in fines levied, resulting in the removal of over 1,350 illegal flexes and banners across several zones. The action followed the erection of numerous banners and flex boards by Congress workers for a Youth Congress event at Palace Grounds. Shivakumar had previously ordered the removal of the unauthorized displays, urging party members to focus on grassroots engagement rather than ostentatious displays. The BBMP’s action included the removal of over 600 party flags as well.
