**Ramanathapuram, March 17, 2025** – Parents of students at Bogalur panchayat union elementary school near Paramakudi protested outside the Ramanathapuram collectorate on Monday, demanding the immediate opening of a newly constructed toilet complex.
The toilet facility, completed in 2021-2022 under a government project, remains unusable due to the lack of a functioning water supply system. Parents claim that the absence of toilets forces students to relieve themselves at home, or in unsafe areas near the school, which is surrounded by water bodies.
Kala, the mother of one student, highlighted the recent drowning deaths of two school children in Sivaganga and expressed fears for the safety of her child and other students if the issue is not addressed. She urged the Collector, Simranjeet Singh Kahlon, to intervene and ensure the immediate completion of the water supply works, allowing the toilets to be opened. The school currently accommodates over 60 students.
