Mon Mar 17 10:00:00 UTC 2025: ## NYC Braces for Windy, Rainy Sunday as Storm Approaches
**New York, NY** – New Yorkers should prepare for a soggy and windy end to the weekend, as a significant storm system is expected to hit the city on Sunday. The National Weather Service predicts around an inch of rain and wind gusts exceeding 40 mph, particularly near the coast.
In anticipation of potential flooding, the city’s emergency management agency has activated its flash flood emergency plan. Sunday’s temperatures are expected to be in the 60s, dropping to the 50s on Monday. While the most intense rain and wind are expected to subside by Monday morning, a 50% chance of rain remains for the St. Patrick’s Day parade. The forecast, however, remains subject to slight changes. The upcoming storm will break a period of dry weather; Central Park hasn’t seen rain since March 5th. Meteorologist Jim Connolly emphasized that the primary flooding concern will be urban flooding and ponding on roads.
