**Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh –** Police in Chittoor district have arrested two key suspects in the murder of K. Ramakrishna, a 55-year-old Telugu Desam Party (TDP) activist and farmer. Ramakrishna was killed on March 15th in Krishnapuram village.
The main accused, K. Venkataramana, and his associate M. Reddeppa Reddy, were apprehended on Monday, according to Superintendent of Police V.N. Manikanta Chandolu. Reddeppa Reddy is reportedly a close aide to former Minister and Punganur MLA P. Ramachandra Reddy. Three other suspects remain at large.
The murder stemmed from a long-standing feud between Ramakrishna and local political leaders, escalating after a dispute on February 10th. Ramakrishna had reportedly received death threats in the preceding two months, with allegations of land grabbing and political violence contributing to the conflict. His son, Suresh, was also critically injured in the attack.
Police say they have gathered substantial evidence, including forensic reports and call data records, to support the arrests. The investigation will also explore the allegations of land grabbing and prior violence connected to the murder. The two arrested suspects have been remanded in custody pending further investigation.
