Mon Mar 17 14:45:28 UTC 2025: ## Rescue Efforts Intensify in Srisailam Tunnel Collapse
**Hyderabad, March 17, 2025** – Rescue teams are intensifying efforts to locate seven individuals trapped in the collapsed Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel in Nagarkurnool district. On the 24th day of the operation, excavators continued removing debris between points D1 and D2, areas identified by sniffer dogs and ground-penetrating radar as potentially containing the missing persons.
Heavy transformers from the tunnel boring machine (TBM) have been removed, and the upper compartment of the TBM platform has been cut up to point D1. Approximately 80 meters of the tunnel, near the conveyor belt, has been cleared of mud, silt, and metal debris. Water jets are assisting in the removal of buried metal components. Dewatering efforts are also underway to facilitate the rescue operation. Cadaver dogs were deployed on Monday to search for human remains. The rescue operation continues.
