**Salem, Tamil Nadu, March 17, 2025** – Salem District Collector R. Brindha Devi has directed the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB) to maintain consistent power supply to areas reliant on combined drinking water schemes. This directive follows a weekly review meeting addressing water distribution concerns across the district during the ongoing summer season.
The meeting, attended by officials from various water management bodies, focused on ensuring regular water supply to the district’s 33.94 lakh residents. Currently, 193.793 million liters of treated water are supplied daily through 11 schemes, benefiting four municipalities, 29 town panchayats, and 4,466 rural areas.
Collector Devi emphasized the importance of regular water supply and instructed officials to closely monitor distribution. She also highlighted the need for public awareness campaigns promoting judicious water use. Furthermore, she stressed the importance of preventing damage to water pipelines during road construction projects, emphasizing the need for prompt repairs should damage occur. The weekly review meetings will continue to ensure adequate water supply throughout the summer.
