Li, born in 1928 in Guangdong, China, built his business empire from humble beginnings, establishing Henderson Land in 1976. His company developed iconic Hong Kong landmarks, including the International Finance Centre. He was awarded the Grand Bauhinia Medal by the Hong Kong government in 2007 for his significant contributions to society. Beyond his business acumen, Li was known for his philanthropy, donating billions of Hong Kong dollars to education and charitable causes over the years, including establishing the Pei Hua Education Fund in 1982. He also garnered international recognition, ranking fourth on Forbes’ list of the world’s wealthiest individuals in 1996.
