MUMBAI: Delhi Capitals have set a 150-run target for Mumbai Indians in the Women’s Premier League final. Batting first, Mumbai Indians managed 149/7 in their allotted 20 overs. Harmanpreet Kaur’s half-century was the highlight of their innings.
Mumbai got off to a poor start, losing their openers Yastika Bhatia (8) and Hayley Matthews (3) early, with the score on just 14. However, a crucial partnership between Harmanpreet Kaur and Nat Sciver-Brunt revived their innings, taking the score past 100. Brunt’s departure for 30, however, hampered the momentum. Subsequent batters failed to contribute significantly, with Amelia Kerr (2), Sajan Sajiven (0), and Kamalini (10) all falling short. Harmanpreet Kaur top-scored with a well-played 66.
For Delhi Capitals, Marizanne Kapp, Jess Jonassen, and Charu Sharma took two wickets each.
Delhi Capitals, the only team to have reached the final in all three seasons of the WPL, are aiming for their first title after finishing runners-up in the previous two seasons. They secured their spot in the final this year as the top team in the league stage with five wins and three losses from eight matches. Mumbai Indians are looking for their second title.
