Sat Mar 15 16:59:35 UTC 2025: ## Ghaziabad Man Arrested for Strangling Wife After Argument Over Daughter’s Wedding

**GHAZIABAD, INDIA –** A 48-year-old woman, Renu Sharma, was found strangled to death in a deserted field in Ghaziabad’s Defense Colony area on Friday, police reported Saturday. Her husband, Anil Sharma (50), has been arrested and confessed to the crime.

According to Assistant Commissioner of Police Saloni Agarwal, the murder stemmed from a dispute over their daughter’s marriage. Anil Sharma, upset about his daughter marrying a man from a different caste, had separated from his wife. He lured Renu Sharma to a meeting on March 13th to resolve their issues. However, a heated argument ensued during which Renu Sharma criticized him for missing their daughter’s wedding. In a fit of rage, Anil Sharma strangled his wife and subsequently abandoned her body in a field near their rented home.

Police were alerted to the body around 10:30 AM Friday. Following a complaint from the family, a case has been registered and Anil Sharma has been taken into custody. The body has been sent for a post-mortem examination. The investigation is ongoing.
