NEW DELHI, March 16, 2025 – Delhi’s Public Works Department (PWD) Minister, Parvesh Sahib Singh, inspected the ongoing drainage construction on Rohtak Road on Saturday. The ₹115 crore project, expected to be completed within 14 months, is a joint effort between the PWD and the Flood Control Department.

The project’s transfer from the PWD to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) earlier this month follows numerous complaints from residents regarding the road’s poor condition. The NHAI will now oversee the redevelopment of an 18km stretch between Peeragarhi Chowk and the Tikri Border, while the PWD retains responsibility for drainage.

Minister Singh criticized the previous Aam Aadmi Party government, alleging neglect of the road’s deteriorating state and lack of official visits to address resident concerns. He emphasized the Delhi government’s commitment to building durable, high-quality roads to combat pollution and ensure efficient connectivity between Delhi and Haryana. The minister expressed confidence that the project will be completed on schedule.
