**Guntur, Andhra Pradesh (March 15, 2025)** – Union Minister of State for Rural Development and Communications, Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar, joined a major cleanliness drive in Guntur on Saturday as part of the ‘Swachh Andhra-Swarna Andhra’ initiative. The event, held at Y Junction in Autonagar, aimed to combat plastic pollution in the city.

The Minister highlighted the severe environmental and health risks associated with plastic waste, referring to it as a “modern-day menace.” He urged citizens to actively participate in waste management by properly disposing of trash and holding local leaders accountable for environmental protection. Dr. Pemmasani administered a cleanliness oath to students and residents and personally participated in cleaning a polluted area alongside local MLA Mohammed Naseer Ahmed.

The initiative involved the Guntur Municipal Corporation (GMC) and saw participation from Deputy Mayor Sheikh Sajeela, representatives from the Industrial Development Corporation, and other local officials. The event underscores the government’s commitment to a cleaner and healthier Guntur.
