Sat Mar 15 16:40:57 UTC 2025: ## Kerala Doctors to Protest Staffing Shortages and Alleged Retaliation
**Thiruvananthapuram, March 15, 2025** – The Kerala Government Medical Officers’ Association (KGMOA) will hold a protest on Tuesday, March 18, to demand the state government address critical staffing shortages within the Health department and cease what they describe as retaliatory actions against doctors.
The protest, scheduled for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. outside the Director of Health Services (DHS) office, will highlight over 500 vacant doctor positions. The KGMOA argues that these vacancies are leading to excessive workloads for existing staff.
Further fueling the protest is the association’s condemnation of disciplinary actions against doctors who refused to perform VIP duties deemed outside accepted norms. The KGMOA also criticizes the government’s failure to process general doctor transfers scheduled for April.
