Sat Mar 15 15:56:46 UTC 2025: ## Chidambaram Praises Tamil Nadu Budget, Urges Quality Control in Implementation

**TIRUPATTUR, March 15, 2025** – Former Union Finance Minister P. Chidambaram lauded the recently announced Tamil Nadu budget, praising the fiscal management and overall growth-oriented approach. Speaking to reporters on Saturday, he commended Chief Minister M.K. Stalin and Finance Minister Thangam Thennarasu for delivering an “impressive” budget.

Chidambaram highlighted the significant ₹55,261 crore allocation to education as a testament to the government’s commitment. He also expressed approval for the proposed global city near Chennai.

However, he cautioned the government to maintain vigilance during project implementation, emphasizing the need for consistent quality control across all initiatives. While acknowledging the successful execution of many projects, he stressed the importance of monitoring certain aspects to ensure standards are met. He specifically suggested quarterly reviews of loans to the tiny and small-scale sectors, a key component of the budget.

Addressing the absence of funds for the Cauvery-Gundar River Linking Project, Chidambaram stated that the previous AIADMK government’s symbolic foundation stone laying lacked sufficient prior study and should not be considered a legitimate commitment.
