Sat Mar 15 18:09:39 UTC 2025: ## Pakistani Security Forces Clash with TTP in Northwest, Leaving 11 Dead
**PESHAWAR, Pakistan** – Pakistani security forces engaged in intense gun battles with Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) militants over the weekend, resulting in the deaths of at least 11 people. Two soldiers were killed and nine TTP fighters died during raids on Saturday in the Mohmand and Dera Ismail Khan districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, bordering Afghanistan. The military confirmed the raids targeted two TTP hideouts.
The TTP, also known as the Pakistani Taliban, is an ally of the Afghan Taliban and has seen its activities increase since the latter’s return to power in Afghanistan in 2021. Many TTP leaders and fighters have reportedly found refuge in Afghanistan.
In a separate incident on Saturday, security forces in Kurram district, also bordering Afghanistan, were ambushed by militants. Casualties from this ambush are yet to be confirmed by authorities. The Kurram district, currently under military operation, has been grappling with sectarian violence for years, leading to a humanitarian crisis due to road closures and shortages of essential supplies.
Adding to the unrest, a bomb exploded outside a mosque in Peshawar on Saturday, killing a Muslim leader. The perpetrators remain unknown, and an investigation is underway. These incidents highlight the ongoing security challenges facing Pakistan in its northwestern regions.
