Sat Mar 15 16:54:57 UTC 2025: ## Gaza Aid Workers Killed in Israeli Strikes: Charity and Hamas Condemn Attack

**Gaza City, Palestine** – Eight aid workers from the UK-registered Al Khair Foundation were killed in Israeli strikes in northern Gaza on Saturday, sparking outrage and raising concerns about the fragile ceasefire. The charity stated that the victims, including volunteers and journalists documenting their work, were targeted while setting up tents and filming promotional material.

The Israeli military claims the strike targeted two individuals operating a drone that posed a threat to Israeli troops. However, Al Khair Foundation founder and chairman Qasim Rashid Ahmad vehemently denied this, asserting that his team were humanitarian workers, not terrorists. He detailed to the BBC how the team, including two cameramen, were struck while returning to their vehicle, with subsequent attacks targeting those who rushed to help.

Several others were injured and transported to the Indonesian Hospital in northern Gaza. The Hamas-run health ministry confirmed the casualties. Hamas spokesman Hazem Qassem condemned the incident as a “horrific massacre,” targeting journalists and humanitarian workers.

The attack has cast a shadow over the January ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, fueling fears of renewed conflict. The current impasse in peace negotiations follows the October 2023 Hamas attack on Israel, which left over 1,200 Israelis dead and 251 hostages taken. Israel’s subsequent military offensive has resulted in the deaths of over 48,300 Palestinians, according to the Hamas-run health ministry. The incident underscores the continuing fragility of the situation and the heightened tensions in the region.
