The incident occurred Friday afternoon near the Krishna River, where a group of approximately 20 individuals, allegedly followers of a youth leader from Telugupet, attacked a group of hospital employees celebrating Holi.
The victims, including a supervisor and a security guard from the district government hospital, were celebrating the festival when the altercation broke out. The attackers, armed with broken beer bottles, allegedly launched a brutal assault, leaving several with severe injuries. Local residents intervened, preventing further violence, and the attackers fled the scene.
The injured were rushed to the district government hospital for treatment. Local sources indicate that this attack is the latest in a series of violent incidents involving the youth leader’s followers. A similar incident involving beer bottle attacks occurred a few weeks ago in the third ward.
Residents are questioning the police response, alleging that the authorities are merely mediating between the parties involved instead of taking strong action. They claim that a timely police response to the previous incident could have prevented the latest attack.
