**Chennai, March 15, 2025** – Opposition parties in Tamil Nadu have sharply criticized the state’s 2025-26 Agriculture Budget, calling it a letdown for farmers. Tamil Maanila Congress (Moopanar) president G.K. Vasan stated that the budget lacked special measures to boost agriculture and allied industries, and notably failed to include a promised farm loan waiver. Similarly, BJP State president K. Annamalai condemned the budget on X (formerly Twitter), highlighting the unfulfilled DMK election promise of Minimum Support Prices for paddy and sugarcane. Mr. Annamalai described the budget as “nothing more than a pile of papers,” accusing the DMK government of deceiving farmers.
