Sat Mar 15 08:20:00 UTC 2025: ## UP Braces for Holi Weather Divide: Rain and Wind Expected in West, Sunny Skies in East
**Lucknow, March 14** – While Uttar Pradesh celebrates Holi with fervor today, the state is experiencing a weather split. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts light rain and strong winds in parts of western Uttar Pradesh, potentially dampening Holi celebrations in some areas.
The IMD predicts light showers and thunderstorms accompanied by 20-30 km/h winds in districts like Meerut, Ghaziabad, Noida, Saharanpur, and Agra from afternoon onwards. This is attributed to an active western disturbance affecting northern India.
Conversely, eastern UP, including Lucknow, Varanasi, Prayagraj, and Gorakhpur, is expected to enjoy clear, dry weather with sunny skies throughout the day. However, slight coolness is anticipated in the mornings and late evenings. Lucknow’s temperature is predicted to reach a high of 32°C and a low of 18°C.
The IMD advises residents of western UP to exercise caution during the festivities, urging people to avoid open areas and trees if thunderstorms occur and to make alternative arrangements for Holi celebrations to avoid getting drenched during Holika Dahan.
Light rain is also likely to continue in western UP on March 15th and 16th, while eastern UP will remain dry. A slight temperature drop is anticipated across the state, offering some relief from the heat. The differing weather conditions mean a contrasting Holi experience across the state – with some enjoying sunny skies and others facing potentially disruptive weather.
