Sat Mar 15 11:40:44 UTC 2025: ## Bihar Police Officer Killed in Attack, Six Arrested

**PATNA, Bihar, March 15, 2025** – An assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of police, Santosh Kumar Singh, died early Saturday after being attacked by a group of people in Munger district, Bihar. Six individuals have been arrested in connection with the assault, which occurred Friday evening while Singh and his colleagues investigated a separate scuffle in Nandlalpur village.

According to Bihar Director General of Police (DGP) Vinay Kumar, Singh was struck on the head with a sharp weapon. He was initially treated at a local hospital before being transferred to Patna, where he succumbed to his injuries. The DGP stated that the attackers were intoxicated at the time of the assault.

This is the second such incident this week. On Wednesday, another ASI, Rajeev Ranjan, died following a clash between police and a group of people in Araria district. Both deceased ASIs were attached to the emergency response service, ‘Dial 112’.

Following the Munger attack, one of the arrested suspects attempted to escape custody, firing at police officers before being apprehended. A manhunt is underway for other suspects.

In response to these incidents, the DGP has ordered all police stations to carefully assess situations before conducting raids and to ensure sufficient personnel are present during investigations. He also appealed to the public to respect the sanctity of the emergency service and urged against misbehaving with responding officers.
