Sat Mar 15 09:24:17 UTC 2025: ## Congress Leader Baghel Denies Son Received ED Summons in Liquor Scam Probe

**Raipur, Chhattisgarh –** Senior Congress leader and former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has denied reports that his son, Chaitanya Baghel, received a summons from the Enforcement Directorate (ED) regarding an alleged liquor scam. The ED reportedly conducted searches at Baghel’s residence and multiple other locations on March 10th, seizing approximately ₹30 lakh in cash and documents. While media outlets reported Chaitanya Baghel was summoned to appear before the agency on March 15th, Baghel stated that his son had not received any such notice and would only comply if formally summoned.

Baghel accused the ED of creating a media frenzy and using the agency to defame him and his family, claiming the investigation is a BJP conspiracy. He referenced a previous seven-year-long “CD case” against him, where he was recently acquitted. The ED’s investigation alleges a massive liquor scam orchestrated between 2019 and 2022, resulting in over ₹2,100 crore in losses to the state exchequer. The Congress party has protested the ED’s actions, burning effigies of the BJP-led central government and the ED on March 11th. The investigation continues.
