**Mysore, March 15, 2025** – The Mysore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) and its Ballari counterpart signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Saturday to foster cooperation and development between the two cities. The agreement aims to stimulate trade and industrial growth, particularly in the tourism sector.

The MoU was signed by Yashwantharaj Nagireddy, president of the Ballari Chamber, and K.B. Lingaraj, president of MCCI, during a joint meeting in Mysore. Nagireddy highlighted Ballari’s commitment to skill development and social initiatives, including free clinics and subsidized meals for farmers. This latter program inspired MCCI to launch a similar initiative in Mysore’s APMC market, offering meals for ₹10.

Lingaraj emphasized the significant opportunities the partnership will create, particularly within the service sector. Narayan Gowda, president of the Mysore Hotel Owners’ Association, underscored the importance of tourism to Mysore’s economy, noting the city’s considerable hospitality sector employing over 25,000 people. He stated that the collaboration would open new avenues for growth within this vital sector.

Both chambers acknowledged Ballari’s potential beyond its iron ore and manganese industries, citing its heritage and tourism resources as key drivers for future development. The MoU is expected to significantly enhance tourism-related business opportunities in both districts. The signing ceremony was attended by several other officials from both chambers.
