Sat Mar 15 05:30:40 UTC 2025: **Kerala Polytechnic College to Install CCTV Cameras After Drug Bust**
KOCHI, KERALA – Following a police raid that uncovered nearly 2 kg of ganja and led to the arrest of three students at the Government Polytechnic College, Kalamassery, the college will install CCTV cameras throughout the men’s hostel. The cameras will be installed before the next academic year begins, after the current students vacate the premises. College Principal Aiju Thomas stated that the installation was delayed to avoid student protests concerning privacy. The upgrade follows accusations that outsiders, including former students, have been accessing the hostel. Police have detained two former students suspected of supplying the seized ganja. Principal Thomas noted that while the hostel has security measures in place, the large campus size makes it difficult to prevent unauthorized access. The college is also upgrading its existing CCTV systems across other campus buildings.
