**Singapore, March 14, 2025** – A 29-year-old Indian national, injured during an illegal boarding incident on a chemical tanker in the Singapore Strait, has been discharged from hospital in stable condition. The incident, which occurred on February 28th, involved unknown suspects boarding the Singapore-registered vessel outside of Singaporean territorial waters.

Police Coast Guard (PCG) officers responded to a call about the illegal boarding and discovered the injured sailor bleeding from his right eye. Inspector Muhammad Rasidi Suriade and his team prioritized the injured man’s evacuation, ensuring his safety before searching for the perpetrators. The crew was accounted for, and the main deck was cleared within 20 minutes, allowing Singapore Civil Defence Force paramedics to attend to the injured sailor.

A thorough two-hour search of the vast chemical tanker, approximately the size of five Olympic swimming pools, failed to locate the suspects. PCG officers verified the passports of over 20 crew members to rule out any perpetrators posing as crew or additional injured individuals. The police investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
