Fri Mar 14 19:17:31 UTC 2025: ## Telangana High Court Stays Sale of Land Donated to Bhoodan Yagna Board
**Hyderabad, March 15, 2025** – The Telangana High Court has issued a stay order preventing the sale of 50 acres of land in Nagaram village, Ranga Reddy district. The land, originally donated to the Bhoodan Yagna Board decades ago, is now the subject of a legal dispute.
The order, passed by Justice C.V. Bhaskar Reddy on Friday, maintains the status quo following a petition filed by Sridhar Reddy of EIPL Constructions. Reddy challenged the Board’s assertion of ownership and the authorities’ decision to list the land as “prohibited,” preventing further transactions.
The land’s original donors’ legal heirs allegedly sold portions of the land, despite a recent notification from the Bhoodan Yagna Board clarifying its sole ownership. According to the Bhoodan Act, the donated land should be managed by the gram sabha (village council), which can either cultivate it or assign it to villagers for farming – but such land cannot be sold or transferred. While legal heirs can inherit assigned land, the petitioner argues that previous transactions were permitted by officials, contradicting the Board’s current claim.
The court acknowledged the complexities of the case and adjourned the hearing until March 27. A related petition concerning disputes among the legal heirs will be consolidated with the current case. The judge directed the registry to combine these petitions.
