**Palm Springs, CA –** Desert X, the internationally acclaimed site-specific art exhibition, opened its fifth edition in the Coachella Valley on March 10th, 2025. Curated by Neville Wakefield and Kaitlin Garcia Maestas, the exhibition features eleven impactful installations exploring the interplay between humanity and the natural world, specifically focusing on the transformative power of both. This year’s installations offer a diverse range of artistic expressions, integrated seamlessly into the dramatic desert landscape. Highlights include:

* **José Dávila’s** marble formations, transported from a quarry near the US-Mexico border, explore themes of displacement and the cyclical nature of creation and destruction.
* **The Living Pyramid**, a monumental sculpture planted with native vegetation, acts as both an environmental intervention and a commentary on international cooperation.
* **G.H.O.S.T. Ride**, by artist Eduardo Kobra, presents a speculative vision of a sustainable future, using a camouflaged vehicle and incorporating Indigenous perspectives.
* **Pia Hefti’s** “Five things you can’t wear on TV”, a kinetic installation using a reflective polymer fiber, creates a visual harmonic that interacts with the desert wind and light.
* **Sarah Meyohas’** immersive installation utilizes light-shaping technology to project sunlight onto a ribbon-like structure, creating stunning optical illusions.
* **Ronald Rael’s** Adobe Oasis, a 3D-printed structure made entirely of mud, showcases sustainable building techniques rooted in ancient traditions.
* **Beryl Korot’s** Soul Service Station, a reimagining of a 1986 installation, offers a sanctuary for reflection and spiritual rejuvenation.
* **Muhannad Shono’s** work uses fabric infused with sand, dynamically interacting with the desert winds to create constantly shifting forms.
* **Kimsooja’s** *To Breathe – Coachella Valley* (opening March 15th), a glass structure with an optical film, plays with light and color, referencing the Light and Space movement.
* **Kapwani Kiwanga’s** *Plotting Rest* (opening March 15th), a pavilion exploring themes of shelter and migration, uses a triangular lattice roof reminiscent of midcentury design.
