**NELLORE, March 15, 2025** – A group of Dalits in Nellore, Andhra Pradesh, have accused YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leader Moilla Suresh Reddy of land grabbing, escalating tensions in the region. The accusations followed a heated argument between the Dalit community and Mr. Reddy’s associates at GVRR College on Friday.
Rajesh, a member of the Dalit group, told reporters that Mr. Reddy, husband of 21st Division Corporator Moilla Gowri, had encroached upon their 62-acre land parcel in Kalyan Nagar. He alleged that Mr. Reddy, along with fellow YSRCP leader Anam Vijayakumar Reddy, had subjected them to harassment and intimidation for the past three years, including repeated summons to the police station. Another Dalit, Vadanala Salma, echoed these concerns and appealed to the district administration for intervention and protection.
Mr. Reddy denied the allegations, attributing them to political vendetta and claiming the Dalits were using forged documents. He stated that a local leader was supporting their claims.
The incident has sparked concerns over land rights and the safety of the Dalit community in the region. The district administration is yet to respond publicly to the allegations.
